This joint, heavily featured in traditional Japanese woodworking, is composed of three interlocking pieces (the leg, or "castle", plus two interlocking rails) that provide a stable and visually appealing support system. This precision fit eliminates creaking and swaying, ensuring a quiet and secure platform without the need for screws or metal fittings. The slats are tensioned with cotton webbing and slide seamlessly into channels, locking in place with wooden keys for silent operation.
